Your technician confirms cover at the time of service and records the pest treated, the areas treated, and the period that applies. If it is not on the record, it is not covered.
HIFI Pest Control warranty
We stand behind the work. What that means in practice depends on the pest, because some are a job you finish and others are a risk you manage. This page sets out where cover applies, where it does not, and how to claim.
Cover follows the species identified and the zones listed on your record. A different pest, or activity in an area we did not treat, is a new job rather than a claim.
Where a claim is valid we come back, reinspect, and retreat the eligible areas at no extra charge. The warranty is a return visit, not a refund.
What is covered
Cover is not the same for every pest, because the pests are not the same. Some are a job you finish; others are pressure from outside that has to be managed.
Cover applies to the species identified on your record, in the internal areas treated, where the property stays in the condition it was treated in.
- The scheduled follow-up or program visit is completed on time.
- Food waste, spills, and cardboard harbourage are kept under control after treatment.
- Live activity is reported while it is happening, not months later.
- German cockroaches in kitchens and food-handling areas. They breed in warm equipment cavities and return wherever food and moisture stay available, so we manage them on a monitored program rather than a one-off treatment with a warranty behind it.
- Activity outside, or in a unit or tenancy next to yours that we have not treated.
Ant cover applies when the full program is completed: baiting first, then the follow-up treatment once the bait has been carried back. A single perimeter spray kills the ants you can see and leaves the nest, so it carries no warranty.
- Webbing spiders on the structures we treated are covered. Leave webs up before the visit and clear them a week or two after, so returning activity is obvious.
- Huntsman, wolf, and funnel-web spiders are not covered. They wander in from gardens and soil rather than living on a treated surface.
- Ant activity where the follow-up step was declined or missed.
- Nests in garden beds, mulch, retaining walls, or a neighbouring property.
- Spiders on vegetation, fences, or anything we did not treat.
The follow-up check is part of the treatment, not a warranty claim. Eggs can survive a first treatment and hatch afterwards, which is why we schedule a second look rather than assume the first visit worked.
- The preparation we ask for is done before each visit.
- Every affected room is treated. Treating one bedroom while bugs sit in the next one will not hold.
- Laundered items are not returned to an untreated room.
- A fresh introduction from luggage, a guest, or second-hand furniture after the work is signed off. This is a new infestation, not a failed treatment.
- Hotels, share houses, and buildings where adjoining rooms are outside the scope we treated.
Termite cover runs with the system installed. A baiting system or chemical barrier carries its own manufacturer warranty, and HIFI's workmanship warranty sits alongside it. Both depend on the property being inspected on schedule.
- Annual inspections are kept up. A missed inspection ends cover, because a colony can do a year of damage unseen.
- The barrier or station line is not disturbed by landscaping, paving, concreting, or excavation.
- Moisture problems named in your report are fixed.
- An inspection reports on what was accessible on the day. It is not a guarantee that no termites are present in concealed timber.
- Cover is for the treatment and the system, not for repairing timber damaged before we attended.
Rodent work is not warranted, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Rats and mice are a pressure from outside the building, not a population living inside it. Clear the ones in your roof and the next ones will use the same gap.
- We find and seal the entry points, because proofing is the part that lasts.
- We set a monitored program where pressure is constant, with visits priced up front.
- Follow-up visits and re-baiting are charged as service, not as a claim.
Flying insects are not warranted. They breed in water and organic matter that is usually off your property, and they re-enter every time a door opens. No treatment holds them out permanently, and a warranty implying otherwise would be dishonest.
- Treating the surfaces they rest on, and the breeding sites we can reach.
- Screens, door seals, and clearing standing water after Sydney rain.
- Scheduled seasonal visits through the warmer months.
Installed proofing carries a workmanship warranty. If spikes lift, netting sags, or a fixing fails on a ledge we installed, we come back and put it right.
- Birds landing on ledges, solar panels, or parapets outside the installed run.
- Damage from storms, roof work, or another trade lifting the hardware.
How to claim
Tell us early. Most claims are straightforward when the activity is still happening and we can see it.
It names the pest, the areas treated, and the period that applies. Have it to hand when you call.
A photo of the insect, the damage, or the droppings tells us more than a description and usually settles what it is.
Claims are logged in writing so there is a dated trail. We will confirm whether the activity falls inside your cover.
A technician attends, confirms the species, and checks whether conditions changed. Where the claim is valid the return treatment is at no charge.
What ends cover
Cover lapses when the conditions it was based on no longer hold.
- A scheduled program or follow-up visit is missed.
- Another provider treats the same area, because we can no longer tell whose treatment is being judged.
- Conditions named in your report are left unaddressed, such as a leak, accessible waste, or dense vegetation against the building.
- The building changes through renovation, excavation, or new landscaping across a treated line.
- The pest reported is a different species from the one treated.
